On a sunny weekend in April, Nao Tomii made it all the way from Austin to the SimWorks USA Showroom in Portland, Oregon. With his beautifully crafted frames in tow, we hosted the Tomii Cycles Pop-Up & “Faraway” Pre-Release Party at SimWorks Showroom, and enjoyed a West Hills/Forest Park Group Ride the following day. Nao helped in creating a memorable experience for Portland’s local bike community.

The name ‘Faraway’ doesn’t simply refer to a distant place. The journey that connects people across the world, chance, and shared purpose. It’s a tribute to the paths that bring us together, allowing us to meet, collaborate, and create something meaningful along the way. The ‘Faraway’ tire was born from the friendship and mutual respect for craftsmanship that exists between Tomii Cycles and SimWorks.

The day after the pop-up, a group of Portland riders gathered for a mellow spring ride with Nao, a loop that showed off some of the season’s best scenery in full Spring Technicolor.

As always, to see so many bikes out on the ride equipped with SimWorks parts, put a smile on our faces. A quiet reminder of being grateful for being a part of this community. It was the perfect way to wind down from the weekend’s excitement and share the road with Nao and some new friends.

With blooming flowers and lush greenery all around, it was a refreshing contrast to the Texas landscape, and we were happy to see Nao fully enjoying this softer, greener side of Portland.
