Spring is in the air, finally, and SimWorks is pleased to announce the release of yet another new pedal option in our growing and illustrious lineup. We have dubbed it the “Taco Pedal”. As the name would suggest, it’s been inspired by the beloved and ubiquitous Mexican soul food.

We want to be sure to meet the needs of the bicycle adventurers scattered around the world…. and as usual, we intend to have enough inventory for the first shipment, but in order to ensure a more stable roll-out, we will start accepting pre-orders from the above date until the shipment starts. We will start taking orders from the product page linked below. We will let you know on the same day.

Pedals are expected to be shipped around the end of May.

Inspiration comes out of nowhere.

Tacos- that beloved and cross-culturally interpreted food that stole a piece of my heart when I first visited Los Angeles in 2019. It was such a dynamic yet simple and exciting food, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to try it.

When friends gather for a party or other occassion, a taco is a great way to express a cuisine and offer an easy way to enjoy food with ease and little fuss. Add a light beer in your other hand, and what else could you need? Savory tortillas, cilantro, the kick of salsa and the crunch of onions and gravy. This was the moment when these tastes and vibes were deeply etched into my brain as the designer.

While staring at the 3D CAD model drawing for the Taco plate, I had a flashback to that first taco and the cheerful music that accompanied it.

The traditional MKS pedal is a pedal with a jagged side plate edge. The Bubbly pedal was an extension of this pedal style in the direction of the side of the pedal and folded back. The Taco pedal is a reinterpretation 180-degree, or perhaps it should be 90-degree, extension of the pedal in the direction of the top and bottom, and a folding of the plate like a taco. It’s functional, aesthetically pleasing and unique.

On the extended treads are 10 beautiful studs developed by MKS. These studs can be replaced and will be available for sale through SimWorks. Adding to Taco pedal’s serviceability features are the use of cup-and-cone bearings, which allow for easy maintenance and adjustment. A bearing cap spanner from MKS for ease in maintenance will also be available for purchase through SimWorks.

Ride to Taco.

In the US, “Taco Tuesday” has become somewhat of a tradition- functioning like a spell that keeps you from getting lost with indecision at lunch or dinner.
