Showcase💎Connecting with Builders at MADE
Photo and Text by Masashi Kimura
At MADE Bike Show ,the featured players are undoubtedly the frame builders who create handmade bicycles. It gives us great joy and pride to have SimWorks parts incorporated into the frames they create.

Between You and Me – The best part of this show is seeing the SimWorks parts that have left our hands combine with the builder’s sensibilities and interpretation.

I am trying to capture as many photos as possible of the bikes that are full of chemistry as possible, but I only have a limited amount of time. I would like to introduce some of the bikes that featured SimWorks parts in their builds at this year’s show.
BREADWINNER
Vera – Commuter
Our close friend BREADWINNER has prominently featured SimWorks in their new Vera.

A new commuter concept. A fast commuter that suits Portland, America’s leading bicycle town.

The drivetrain is SHIMANO Q’AUTO, which is a symbolic element of this assembly.

With a Rhonda stem, Getaround bar, Smooth 51 fender, 700 x 38 Volummy tires, Beatnik seatpost, Bubbly pedals and CrMo spacers, it’s a sturdy and reliable selection of components that’s perfect for an everyday bike.
Assembled in collaboration with CHRIS KING, it’s full of local Portland brands.
Similar to racing or touring, this is another take on handmade bikes, carefully crafted for a specific purpose.

This bike gives you a sense of the richness of choosing a special dream bike for your everyday transportation.

Thanks Tony for the fresh ideas.
LA MARCHE
Young builder LA MARCHE has his workshop inside the facility at Chris King in Portland, so he can be considered roommates with SimWorks USA. (On his days off, he seems to go to the dirt jumping park and trail riding with the SimWorks USA crew almost every week.) His show bike is also assembled with SimWorks products.
Chubby Rim Brake Road Bike

700 x 38c all-road concept. Mid-reach rim brakes. Slightly fat road bikes with a MAX of around 40c are likely to become a trend in the future, regardless of whether they are disc or rim brakes.

This all-rounder is perfect for both on-road and off-road riding. From exploring a nearby mountain pass you’ve never been to before to traveling from town to town with minimal luggage, it’s the perfect bike for a light, agile journey like Basho.

Wonderer Bar, Caroline Stem, Froggy Seatpost, Hoshi Spokes & Nipples, Volummy 700 x 38c tires, Tiny Bubbly pedals. And the brown, silver and pale blue color scheme. Personally, this bike was my favorite at the show.
Fillet brazed stems are difficult to produce and have become a rare item, but we would like to make a comeback with them in 2026.

The fine details that shine among the simple straight lines show us that the beauty of a bike is ultimately in finding that delicate balance among straight lines, triangles, and circles.
Co Fixed Gear
Next came the track bikes that shaped his lifestyle.

It may look like a very simple track bike, but with its flanged rear end, beautiful segmented fork, intricately crafted front end, and circular accessories, it’s a modern interpretation of the finer details.

Getaround CrMo bar, Tomboy stem, tapered spacer, bubbly pedals.
The simple style and paint job allow the small details to stand out.
29er All-Rounder
Finally, this bike was on display at the CHRIS KING booth.

The colour sense of this bike was on display to coincide with the launch of CK’s new Matte Jade range.

A multi-purpose rigid dirt bike. And although the concept is completely different from the track bike mentioned above, the details exude his identity.

The way the Tapered Spacer fits in and the color choice of Nissen Cable are great. Personally, I was impressed by the details of the dropper post cable routing details.

I’ve always wanted to see this kind of marriage with SimWorks. Thank you, Tom, for creating this.
BUENDIA
BUENDIA, a handmade builder from Portland, also features SimWorks in key areas.
Randonneur with PINION shift

With a classic look and equipped with PINION Smart Shift, BUENDIA’s randonneur literally combines the old with the new.

Handmade + technology inside. This is another perfect solution that is unique to handmade bikes.

The combination of beautiful lugwork, custom stem, custom bag supporter and Turtle 52 Fender is classic.
Neo Randonneur Disc Brake

The other is an orthodox disc brake Neo Randonneur.

The precise lugwork, the beautiful curves within the straight lines, and the bell position that only a custom stem can achieve… it’s truly the world of the artisan.

It also blends in with neo-classic bikes such as the Wild Honey Bar and Bubbly Pedal.

I felt the roots of SimWorks in Greg’s idea. Thank you.
SINGULAR
Swift MK5

Unpainted 29er Steel Bike from SINGULAR CYCLES.

It’s a hybrid combination of well-worn CK parts and gorgeous INGRID COMPONENTS components. The Danner chain guard adds a stylish touch.

I’m using Super Yummy, Bubbly Pedal, Thunder Strap, and the new bike bag from SimWorks that will be released soon. More information about the bag will be released soon.
SOUR by CYCLE PATH
Bad Granny
Finally, from the booth of CYCLE PATH, a leading local bike shop, we saw German frame manufacturer SOUR BICYCLES

A 29er “Klunker” style from SOUR, a handmade bike maker in Saxony, Germany.

An exquisite color match using the Standalone 001 Bronze Rims, Raw Brass Nipples, and Bubbly Pedals.

It was a real pleasure to see SimWorks products outside our booth at a venue where the individual personalities of each builder collided. We were only able to introduce a small portion of them here, but our own creative adventure continues, inspired by the builders’ ideas.
Thank you to all the handmade builders!
