Updated specification – Dullbright – OBENTO RACK
“Expanding the functionality of your bicycle” is the catchphrase for the popular SimWorks product ‘Obento Rack’. It has been updated to the same “Dullbright” surface finish as other SimWorks cockpit products such including a number of our stems and handlebars. Reinstall it now!
So, with a lunchbox-sized platform and four highly adaptable legs, this is an O-Bentruck that is just right for small items. It can be easily installed using the braze-ons on your fork or you can employ the included clip bands. It is easy to use, but it is made with Nitto’s skilled craftsmanship.
What is going on in this video? The answer is:
Please note that the OBENTO RACK is not a heavy load front rack that you might use for an extended tour, but is intended rather as a handlebar bag support, so it cannot carry very heavy luggage.
Obento’s load capacity is listed at 5kg. When you want to carry a little bit of luggage, 5kg is a good balance, isn’t it? It’s fine if you put a basket on it and carry a radio-controlled car. A MacBook would weigh around 1.5-2kg, and a coffee set? A WALD basket weighs around 0.6kg, and a 5kg lunch box is too much. Rather than carrying everything, it’s better to keep it simple and just carry one thing. That’s just how it feels.
When we looked into the origin of the word bento, we found that the most likely explanation was that it was a Chinese word meaning something convenient or expedient that was introduced to Japan in the Middle Ages and then established itself there. The OBENTO bicycle rack is no exception, and will add just the right amount of carrying capacity to your bike. Try using it in combination with the stem, handlebars, and spacers, that are available in this come Dullbright specification.
