For nearly ten years now, SimWorks, 100 TACOS, Mick, and Roxy have shared a friendship that has grown far beyond a collaboration.

We first met Mick when he was working part-time at the legendary Los Angeles bike shop Golden Saddle Cyclery（GSC）. On weekends, he was running his bicycle taco cart, 100 TACOS. When SimWorks held a Pop-up event at GSC, we invited Mick to bring 100 TACOS, and that day marked the beginning of a friendship that continues to this day.

Since then, Mick 100 TACOS and SimWorks have collaborated on two editions of the 100 TACOS x SimWorks stem.

What we’ve built together has never been just about products. We’ve always shared the same appreciation for classic bicycles and well-made tools, the belief in making things that last, and the joy of creating something true to ourselves, no matter how small. Most importantly, we believe in the culture that brings people together around bicycles and good food.

Two months ago, something heartbreaking happened to Mick and Roxy.

While Mick was working at work (Allez LA), he received a phone call from Roxy.

“Our garage is on fire. I’m so sorry… I think the truck… I think everything might be gone.”

The fire started in the apartment garage and spread with incredible speed. Thanks to the nearby fire station, their home was saved, but almost everything inside Mick and Roxy’s garage was lost.

Artwork from friends, letters, photographs, CDs, records, cassette tapes, and years of treasured memories.

Even the items that escaped the flames were severely damaged by the intense heat, smoke, and soot.

Anyone who knows Mick knows how much he loves collecting, preserving, and giving old things a new life.

That is why it is impossible to imagine what it feels like to lose so much in a single moment.

When we spoke with him on the phone recently, he was still looking forward.

“We still have a place to live, and we’re getting by. But we’ve lost so many memories, along with my workshop and the tools that make it possible for me to create as 100 TACOS. If you enjoy what I make, buying something from me is the biggest help. Thank you so much to everyone.”

So we started thinking about what we could do, both from Japan and here in Portland.

Starting today, we will donate 100% of the proceeds from every remaining 100 TACOS product in SimWorks’ inventory directly to Mick and Roxy.

This is something we’re doing because we want to support a dear friend and creative partner alongside the community that has supported both SimWorks and 100 TACOS over the years.

Alongside the stem, we have a collection of soft goods that capture Mick’s simple and thoughtful style, including long sleeve T-shirts that he designed and hand screen printed one by one in his garage, a Los Angeles-made ripstop cap, a 32 oz Nalgene Wide Mouth Bottle, and a matching stem cap.

None of these pieces were made for mass production. They were born from the shared philosophy of Mick and SimWorks: to make only small batches of products that people will truly use and enjoy for years to come.

Tragically, the fire also claimed his garage / workshop and screen printing equipment where these pieces were made.

That is why every item we are offering today represents more than just a product. It is a reflection of Mick’s years of craftsmanship, creativity, and dedication.
